Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Welcome to James Lick Middle School! We are convinced that we have the most talented, beautiful, and capable students in the city—thank you for sending your children to us every day!

In terms of adolescent development, middle school students tend to become more independent and less likely to seek your presence at school. At the same time, we faculty feel that your involvement is absolutely key to the success of our students.  Please be involved in your child’s education by communicating with us about what your child needs and working with us to meet those needs. For starters, make sure that his/her contact information is current both on the emergency card and computer system. Help us ensure that your child is on track for success by sending him/her to school on time every day, as attendance is a key factor in academic success. Likewise, work with us to reinforce school rules so as to limit any distractions. Support your child by helping him/her stay organized, both by maintaining binders and by writing assignments down in the student planner. And finally, ask your child what he/she is learning every day. Their explanations to you keep you informed and reinforce what they have learned.

We are committed to supporting each child’s positive development during these critical years. We couldn’t do this work without you parents, as you are the experts when it comes to your children.
