Dear James Lick Families,
Welcome back returning families and a big WELCOME to all new families. I am very excited for the new school year and for the opportunity to serve the school as a member of the PTSA Board. Our dedicated staff and energetic parents have been busy preparing for the return of our students and community. We hope you will join us in making JLMS the best place for learning and growing during your child’s middle school years.
The board invites you to join the James Lick PTSA, our Parent, Teacher, and Student Association. The PTSA supports programs offered by staff and enriches our community life at James Lick. Whether you join the PTSA or not, I encourage you to attend the meetings. This year we will have only four general meetings, so make them count by showing up and giving your input. Meetings will be held Wednesday evenings on August 31, October 19, Feb 15, and April 18.
Staying informed about what’s going on at school is easy—just bookmark our website
www.jameslickptsa.org and join the James Lick Yahoo Group for all the latest news. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/JamesLick/ and sign up, or email Max Shroeder, PTSA communications team lead, at email@example.com to be added to the listserve.
Mark these upcoming events on your calendar. There are many volunteer opportunities throughout the year, but here are some ways you can connect, get informed, and help us now. This is just the start to another amazing year!
• Principal Chat: Friday, August 26, 8:30 am, Parent Room. Find out from Ms. Naz, herself, what’s been going on at school this summer.
• Our first PTSA Meeting/Potluck: Wednesday, August 31, 6-8 pm, Cafeteria. Always a crowd-pleaser. You’ll meet a bunch of other parents and hear about plans for the year and find out how you can help.
• Clean Up Day/E-waste Recycling Fundraiser: Saturday, September 10, from 10 to 1. This year we hope to have the e-waste recycling event side by side with the clean up day. At this first fundraiser of the year, we will focus on Ms. Babcock’s JMLS Cheerleaders. Spread the news, and drop off any of your old electrical equipment. Everybody is welcome to help out— roll up your sleeves and fulfill teacher housekeeping wish-lists to keep the school beautiful! More hands make light work and an immediate impact for students and staff.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Chester Hartsough, PTSA President
